How Ground theory works

  • In Aeroplanned you can add theory syllabi to Aeroplanned with the intention of adding time to a students Training Pattern.
  • A student can not be in Theory and flying at the same time in Aeroplanned. If you have a course that flys 1/2 day and is in theory 1/2 day you would load them onto the flying syllabus but make sure the flying syllabus is the correct length to include both.
  • A theory course or a brief lesson is recorded as 'None' and 'None' in the syllabus for the Aircraft and Instructor resource type
  • Aeroplanned doesn't do TKI/Theory instructor resourcing. It is tricky to manage a classroom or TKI resourcing when is is 1 to many students that could change all the time.
  • When building a theory syllabus one week or one day (if its a short course) is one event.
  • You must mark the syllabus as 'Non flying'. This tells Aeroplanned to treat the progress update different and not look for an event ID but to just mark of the event as done.
